FAQ
-
Why is the certificate program only for graduate students?
The certificate program is uniquely designed as a supplement to theological and graduate studies in religion. The program assumes academic knowledge of theo-political and ministerial methodology to focus on practical application. Thus, as a distinctive offering of Georgetown University’s Center on Faith and Justice, the certificate program is aimed at engaging and developing a rising generation of faith leaders that empower the Church as a force for justice and hope. For more information about the broader work of the CFJ and how you might be involved, please see our website.

Does it matter what degree program I am currently in?
No. The certificate program is designed for seminarians and graduate students in religion in a range of degree programs. We have had MDiv, MA, MTS, MRPL, MJA, and PhD students all represented in our program!
-
Does the program cost include travel to and from Georgetown University?
No. The program cost covers accommodations, meals, books and materials, and local transportation during the summer academy week. Participants are responsible for their travel to and from campus.
-
What events make up the summer academy week?
In addition to daily classroom sessions and workshops with leading scholars and national leaders, participants will enjoy a private evening tour of D.C., a “Hill Day” at the Capitol (including scheduled congressional office visits, meetings with members of Congress, and a panel inside the CVC), and other DC events. A detailed schedule and itinerary will be provided to participants in May.
-
When should I plan to arrive/depart campus for the summer academy?
Check-in for the summer academy is at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17th. There will be an opening dinner that evening. The closing dinner program for the summer academy will be on the evening of Friday, June 20th, with checkout the following morning, June 21st, at 10 a.m.

I am planning on driving. Is there parking on campus?
There is very little available parking on the university campus and in the broader Georgetown area — particularly for overnight parking needs. We strongly recommend that participants pursue alternative travel arrangements, or seek to secure parking arrangments in advance.
